State Parks

Four State Parks and two State Historic Sites, Monuments or Markers are within 105 miles of Little America. All of the State Parks have boating and camping facilities and are open year-round (with some facility restrictions).

The reservoir at Hawk Springs State Park boasts a blue heron rookery and birds such as the blue-winged and green-winged teal, gadwall, pintail, wood duck, and great horned owl.

Curt Gowdy State Park is located just 24 miles west of Cheyenne and offers fishing at three reservoirs and a richly varied landscape in the foothills of the Laramie Mountains.

Listed on the National Register, visitors can spend the day touring the beautifully restored Wyoming Territorial Prison. Built in 1872, the prison held some of the most notorious outlaws in the region, including Butch Cassidy.

The Historic Governors' Mansion is open year-round and located just three miles away.
